LITERARY Classics On FILM Vol.2


On ThursdayDecember 28 at 6:00 PM at the American Corner Novi Sad, the second in a series of lectures by Đorđe Randelj i Zoran Surla will be held, this time about Herman Melville and his novel Moby Dick, the most significant literary work of the 19th century American literature. The lecture will be accompanied by clips from the three movies based on this book:

  • Moby Dick (1956), directed by John Huston, screenplay by Ray Bradbury, in which Gregory Peck plays the main character, Captain Ahab, fighting against Moby Dick, a white whale, and the preacher is portrayed by Orson Welles.

  • Moby Dick (1998), in which Captain Ahab is played by Patrick Stewart, and Gregory Peck is the preacher.

  • Moby Dick (2011), in which Ethan Hawke is the young sailor Starbuck, and the great William Hurt is Captain Ahab.
