If you are 10 to 14 years old, interested in science and programming, and dreaming of visiting Mars one day - you have the chance to participate in the SSMTM project, which is designed to get you more familiar with the planet mentioned above, but also with robots that we're sending to investigate it.

"During 12 workshops we will work with LEGO robots, learn how to program and use their engines and sensors to perform various tasks. We will use glasses for virtual reality to explore living conditions on Mars and maybe even talk to people who are right now exploring this planet", says Alen Piljak, founder of the EduLab Association and moderator of the workshop.

To participate in the program you need to write what inspires you to visit Mars and send it to Don’t be modest on the length of the essay, be clear, precise and direct, but it shouldn’t be longer than one sheet of A4. Deadline for submitting your applications is Sunday, January 21 till midnight. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Also, you need to regularly attend the workshop, because you will have to pass the tests in order to continue training, just like the real astronauts. Also, having a mobile phone with a gyroscope sensor is desirable. If your device does not have it, you need to specify this in your application and we will try to provide you one to use during training.

The workshops will be held on Saturdays from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm, and the first workshop is scheduled for Saturday, January 27th.

The project was conceived as a continuation of the First Serbian Mission to Mars, held in the Children's department of the Belgrade City Library and the American Corner. The current project is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade.

With this program, the American Corner Belgrade begins celebrating of the fifteenth anniversary of its work.
