Lecture: Contemporary American Politics is Polarized, But is That Bad?

Wednesday, May 17th at 6.00pm
American Corner Belgrade / library room

Speaker: Professor David Dillman, Abilene Christian University Abilene, TX and Fulbright Scholar at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade

American politics and society is currently characterized by deep political divisions that has resulted in policy gridlock and the failure political leaders to address key problems. In addition, some analysts have argued that partisan polarization is now so extreme that it affects the way people consume and understand information, including basic facts and scientific realities. How did Americans get into this mess - if it really is a mess - and is there any way out of it? This lecture will explore these questions.
